Dr. Richard Nguyen is a geriatric dentist who received his degree from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1998. He’s a highly regarded dentist in the Orange County area and a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, National Aging in Place Council, and Alzheimer’s Association.

Dr. Nguyen chose to become a senior dentist because he saw first-hand how difficult it was for his ailing 84-year-old homebound father to get proper health and dental care.  After performing some research on the aging and homebound population, he found that there was a great need for a house call dentist who could serve the elderly. After speaking with his sister, a geriatric physician in Northern California, Dr. Nguyen was thrilled to realize that he could work as a geriatric dentist to fill this need. The elderly have very special needs, often complicated by cognitive and physical issues such as Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, and dementia. Much of this population cannot leave their home or assisted living facility for dental appointments, which means their oral health suffers. This can lead to further complications, health problems, and discomfort. In order to best serve this community, Dr. Nguyen has found that providing in-home dentistry for residential homes, assisted living facilities, and hospice centers allows us to offer this essential care while the patient is surrounded by the things that make them the happiest and most comfortable. This is why having a senior dentist who can operate from a mobile care unit is vital to serving the elderly population.

Dr. Nguyen is married with two wonderful children. He and his family enjoy playing tennis together, reading books, traveling, and volunteering in their community. He enjoys his work as a geriatric dentist very much and looks forward to serving Southern California communities for many years to come.
